Arete Living Arts offers a program of free or very inexpensive classes to economically disadvantaged people in the New York City area.

The Class Group I classes are completely free. The program runs eight weeks with one four-hour class each week.

Currently these courses are in:

  • Video editing on FinalCut Pro and Adobe AffterEffects
  • Graphic deign on Adobe Photoshop
  • Web Design and HTML programming

    These classes not only teach the technical aspects of using the software programs and programming language, but also include real world work projects such as designing CD and DVD covers, laying out book projects, designing web site for artists, and working on video projects.

    Arete Living Arts classes offer concise, practical instruction so students can develop skills they can take into the work place. The classes also provide internship experience where students are working on real projects that they can add to their work portfolio. This work can be shown to prospective employers to demonstrate their skills. Students who complete the classes receive a letter of recommendation that details their training and the projects they have worked on.

    The Class Group II charges a nominal fee. Classes in this group are a single five-hour intensive.

  • Lighting
  • Drawing
  • Oil Painting

    These classes teach an overview of the skill sets for beginners. Classes are taught by experienced professionals and include studio demonstrations and hands on experience.
